At the Wieringermeer location Gasunie blends high calorific gas with Nitrogen to obtain the Groningen Quality gas (G-Gas) with Mokveld control valves. A specific system continuously verifies the quality of the delivered gas.
A so-called Quality Shut-down Valve (QSV) prevents the delivery of off-spec gas.
Usually this system is relatively slow, the time between measurement and full closure of the valve can be 40-50 seconds, this means the gas has travelled at least 500 meters already. Therefore traditionally a large size plant is required to assure the off-spec gas does not leave the site.
To reduce the size of the plant Gasunie installed a Mokveld very fast closing QSV which reduced the length to approximately 150 meters.
The 42 inch ASME 600 Lbs HIPPS like Mokveld axial flow on-off valve closes in 2 seconds with a very high reliability reducing the risk of the delivery of bad quality to an absolute minimum.
